Do you have limestone countertops, walls, or other limestone surfaces? What limestone services do you need? We provide complete limestone care and professional maintenance services for floors, countertops, walls, and other surfaces, including both interior and exterior limestone surfaces for residential and commercial clients. Keep reading to learn more about how we can meet your needs.

Honing, Polishing, and Refinishing

Does your limestone floor have dull areas associated with wear patterns, scratches, etches or spots? An uneven finish, dull spots or etches can diminish the elegant appearance of your limestone floors and surfaces. Santa Fe Floor Care can hone your limestone surfaces to eliminate these imperfections, resulting in a new limestone surface free of damage. With our limestone honing and polishing services, our expert technicians can achieve a honed or soft matte finish that is warm, inviting, and velvety smooth. We can also polish your limestone using the appropriate diamonds or polishing powders to achieve a semi-gloss or gloss finish.

Lippage Removal

Are your limestone tiles uneven? Do you want your tile floor flattened to the grout lines to facilitate easier cleaning? We can grind away the excess stone (a process called lippage removal) to create a flat, level surface using state-of-the art diamond grinding technology. Once ground to the level and shape desired, the limestone is honed and polished to the finish you want.

Repair and Replacement

Do you have chipped, cracked, or broken limestone tiles? Our expert limestone repair services include filling in chipped areas in limestone, fixing limestone cracks, blending the repair site with the surrounding area, and honing and polishing it to match the finish on the rest of your limestone floor, countertop or other stone surface. Although it is rare for a limestone tile to be beyond repair, sometimes tile replacement is necessary. Santa Fe Floor Care craftsmen can, in many cases, remove your affected tile without damaging neighboring tiles, reinstall the new tile, level the installed tile with the surrounding area, and then match the finish as closely as possible.

Stain Removal

Whether you are seeking guidance on how to remove limestone stains or discolorations yourself or want us to treat your limestone, the original finish of your stone can be restored.

Cleaning and Sealing

Some natural stone types are more porous than others, and the more porous a natural stone is, the more susceptible it is to staining. Your marble will be easier to keep clean with periodic professional deep cleaning services, using non-acidic, highly-effective cleaning solutions. Once your marble is cleaned and restored, we may recommend you have us seal it to enhance its stain resistance. We say, “May” because not all stone needs to be sealed. Highly polished stone may not even take an impregnating sealer. But, if sealing is recommended, know that sealing represents an inexpensive, preventative measure against stain damage, because it buys you time to wipe up spills before they become stains.

Caring For It…

At Santa Fe Floor Care, we can instruct you on the proper day-to-day care of your natural stone and tile floors, countertops, and other surfaces. We offer a free, downloadable Stone and Tile Care Guide and can recommend stone-safe care products to help you keep your home or business looking great. We also provide a regularly scheduled maintenance program, upon request.

Terrazzo

Terrazzo Repair, Honing & Polishing

Terrazzo is a unique surface, primarily found as flooring, that traditionally contains marble chips of different sizes and colors held together with a cement base or, in newer applications, with a resin or epoxy base. Aggregates other than marble may also be used. It is often the practice to wax terrazzo to achieve shine, but waxes turn yellow and collect dirt over time and therefore must be repeatedly stripped and reapplied. This process is not only time-consuming and costly, but also unnecessary. With our professional terrazzo services, we can give your terrazzo floors a natural polish that eliminates the need for stripping and waxing.

Honing & Polishing

Using the same process as that of marble and other natural stone restoration, terrazzo can be honed and polished to achieve both glossy and matte finishes without the need for coatings. This same process masterfully restores scratched and worn terrazzo, as well, dramatically improving its appearance.

Sealing

It is important to note that sealing is not the same as coating or waxing and is an important but simple measure that can be taken to help inhibit staining once the terrazzo has been restored and thoroughly cleaned.

Crack & Chip Repair

Like any other surface that sees traffic and use, terrazzo can become chipped and cracked. Our technicians are able to repair this type of damage, blending the repair site as closely as possible with the surrounding terrazzo.

Travertine

Achieving The Look You Want For Your Travertine

Travertine is a very popular stone for floors in new homes in the Austin, TX area. Because of its popularity, Santa Fe Floor Care has become highly experienced in the care and maintenance of travertine. We perform several different processes on travertine: cleaning and sealing, honing, and polishing, as well has filling holes. We can make your travertine look nothing less than spectacular, whether you prefer a matte, satin or glossy finish.

Common Travertine Problems

Travertine can become dirty or dull-looking, scratched, etched, cracked, chipped, or otherwise damaged with time and use. If this is true of your travertine, don’t replace it! Santa Fe Floor Care can restore your travertine, not just making it look better, but making it look brand new again.

To Fill Or Not To Fill

Travertine has naturally occurring holes, so it is available in two distinct forms — filled and unfilled. In “filled” travertine, a color-matched material is used at the factory to fill the holes, giving the stone a smooth finish. In “unfilled” travertine the natural holes remain exposed for a rustic, earthy finish. If you have unfilled travertine that you want to be filled, or the holes in your filled travertine have become exposed and need to be refilled, we can perform this service for you. The stone industry term for this service is “floating.” We use filler tinted to match the rest of the surface, blending the repair site with the surrounding area. To achieve a uniform finish, we hone and polish once the filler is completely dry.

Grinding Uneven Tiles (Lippage Removal)

Whether you want a floor that is flush with its grout lines for easier cleaning, or need to remedy uneven tiles that can be hazardous as well as unattractive, Santa Fe Floor Care can take care of that for you. Using state-of-the art diamond grinding technology, we can remove excess stone to create a flat, level surface . Once the uneven tiles are leveled (this is called lippage removal), the travertine is honed and polished to your desired finish.

Refinishing: Honing & Polishing

Santa Fe Floor Care can hone your travertine surfaces to eliminate surface imperfections such as dull spots, scratches, etching and other wear and tear, resulting in a damage free surface that looks like new again. With the damage erased, our expert technicians can polish your travertine using the appropriate diamond-infused pads or polishing powders, achieving a honed (soft matte) finish that is warm, inviting, and velvety smooth, a gorgeous glass-like polish, or something in between that suits your taste.

Deep Cleaning Soiled Travertine

While any travertine surface can become dirty and grimy with use, unfilled travertine with its naturally varying surface texture and inherent holes can be particularly challenging once dirt has had time to accumulate in the hollows and low points. Not to worry, though, we can remove deeply imbedded soiling, strip away years of buildup of unsightly topical treatments, remove soap film in showers, get rid of soot on fireplaces, and resolve a host of other travertine cleaning problems, leaving your stone as pristine as the day it was installed.

Sealing Travertine

Once your travertine floors, showers, tub surrounds, walls, and other travertine surfaces are restored, we highly recommend you have your travertine sealed to help inhibit staining. Like all natural stone, travertine is naturally porous and quick to absorb staining agents. It’s true most stains can be resolved, but who wants to go to all that trouble, expense and frustration when it can easily be avoided. A thorough professional sealing is a good, inexpensive way to head stains off at the pass.

Travertine Color Enhancing

Travertine is characterized by its neutral earthtone colors. For certain types of travertine, our skilled technicians can apply an enhancing sealer to intensify the color and enrich its natural beauty.

Travertine Stain Removal

Sometimes, in spite of your best efforts, stains happen. Fortunately, most stains and discolorations can be resolved. We can removes heavy waxes, floor finishes and soap residue from your slate floor. About Slate

Slate is a natural stone that comes in several different textures, such as a smooth or cleft (rough) finish. It is a waterproof, stain-resistant natural stone and a beautiful flooring material. Slate can scratch or chip more easily than other natural stone. Aggressive cleaning and the build up of heavy waxes, floor finishes, or soap residue may cause slate floors to become dull and dingy.

Part of our expertise at Santa Fe Floor Care is knowing which sealer to use under varying circumstances.

Caring For Slate

Sweep or dust mop your floors regularly to remove anything that can get ground into the surface. Use only recommended cleaning products. Some acids, such as lemon or vinegar, and alkaline cleaners may etch the surface of slate, especially honed and polished slate surfaces. To prevent water spots after cleaning, dry your polished or honed slate with a soft cloth. We make it a point to educate our customers on proper stone care.
