Each project is customized based on the condition of the stone, the level of damage, and the desired finish.

1. Evaluation and Finish Selection

We assess etching, scratches, and wear patterns and determine the appropriate starting grit level. More heavily damaged floors require starting at a lower grit to fully remove surface damage.

2. Deep Cleaning

We begin with a deep cleaning using truck-mounted hot water extraction and alkaline cleaners to remove embedded dirt and residues.

3. Diamond Honing Process

We use diamond-embedded honing pads to resurface the travertine. Multiple passes are made, gradually increasing in grit level until the desired finish is achieved.

Typical honing progression includes:

• 220 grit
• 400 grit
• 800 grit
• 1800 grit
• 3000 grit

This process removes etching, scratches, and uneven wear while flattening the stone at a microscopic level.

4. Finish Selection (Honed or Polished)

• Low to high honed finishes are achieved within the honing stages
• A polished finish is created by refining the surface further to approximately 8500 grit

Honing is a necessary step before polishing to ensure the surface is properly prepared and damage-free.

5. Wet Process and Slurry Extraction

Our process is completely wet, meaning there is no airborne dust. Instead, a stone slurry is produced, which we continuously extract during the process using professional-grade equipment.

6. Post-Cleaning Rinse

After honing and polishing, we perform a final hot water extraction rinse with no chemicals to remove any remaining residue.

7. Optional Sealing

A penetrating sealer may be applied to help protect against staining.
