Travertine Tile Clean and Seal. Before and After
Austin Top Rated Stone Cleaning Expert
At Santa Fe Floor Care we are really good at cleaning stone floors. This is just another one of those night and day before and after jobs. You can notice from the picture that the grout lines are clean and the stone is bright and vibrant. We have a four step process we implement when cleaning stone floors to make sure you get the best results possible
Step 1: Deep Cleaning the Grout Lines
The first step in our process was to focus on the grout lines. We used a concentrated alkaline stone and grout cleaner which breaks down dirt and soil. We manually scrub the grout lines with grout brushes. Then we rinse and extract the stone and grout with super hot water under pressure. It is very important you hire a floor expert who is experienced in stone cleaning because it is very easy to ruin the finish if improper techniques or cleaners are applied.
Step 2: Surface Cleaning with a Rotary Machine
Next, we moved on to cleaning the travertine surface itself. We used a rotary machine fitted with a high-grit diamond pad. Using a honing pad is essential to preserving the integrity of the finish. In this job we used a 11000 grit pad which is consistent with the level of reflectivity of this stone surface.
Step 3: Rinsing and Extracting
It is really important to use a truck mounted hot water extraction machine when working with stone. In this case travertine is extremely porous and must be rinsed extremely well so there are no left of suds or residue.
Step 4: Sealing for Long-Lasting Protection
Finally, we sealed the travertine floor and grout with an impregnating stone sealer. The sealer is odorless and soaks into the surface of the stone to help protect and maintain the stone tiles for the long run.
