This Westlake, Texas resident called us after experiencing a damaging flood to her two-story townhome. The flood mitigation had left her floors littered with construction debris. When she contacted us through text she mentioned that the construction dust was affecting the air quality and she wanted to get it cleaned as soon as possible. We new it would require a lot of elbow grease, but we were determined to help this client.
First, we dry vacuumed the entire area to make sure that all the loose particles were removed. We pretreated small areas with an acidic cleaner which broke down the calcite in the construction materials. Then we agitated the areas with a spinning brush as well as the grout lines with our hand held stiff-bristled grout brushes. We then neutralized the acidic cleaner with an alkaline solution and cleaned the grout lines one more time. Then we rinsed the tile with our truck mounted hot water extraction machine. We adjusted the water pressure to make sure that the tile was as clean as possible without causing any damage to the grout. To top everything off, we applied a water-based impregnating sealer to the grout. The tile completely transformed in appearance and the client could not have been happier with the results.
